The Board: Approved (1) the 2002 Budget and the 2001 Third Quarter Financial Statements; (2) Payment of the Society’s pledge to the SPIRIT Project into the Community Services, Education and Research Fund; (3) Investment recommendation for a change in the General Fund’s investment fund.

Approved the ratification of the Bylaws Amendment Ballot.

Approved the following nominations for the 2001 Sierra Sacramento Valley Medical Society awards: Golden Stethoscope Award to Kenneth Wiesner, MD; Medical Honor Award to Patricia Samuelson, MD; Medical Community Service Award to The Community Services Planning Council, Nancy Findeisen, Executive Director. Awards will be presented at the Society’s Annual Installation and Awards Dinner on Friday, January 18 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel.

Approved the SSVMS Position Paper on Emergency Department Ambulance Diversion.

The Board: Received a report concerning recent activities of the Sacramento Medical Foundation Blood Centers from Paul C. Holland, MD, CEO/Medical Director.

Approved the recommendation from the SSVMS investment advisor that the equity mutual funds in the Scholarship Fund and the Building Fund be moved into separate Salomon Smith Barney TRAK Programs.

Approved sending a letter to the County Board of Supervisors supporting an augmentation of the Sacramento County Health Officer’s Budget.

Reviewed the 2001 Readership Survey results regarding Sierra Sacramento Valley Medicine.

Approved committee appointments for the year 2002.

Received a report from AMA Delegates, Drs. Eugene Ogrod and Earl Washburn, concerning the AMA 2001 Interim Meeting.
