Received a report on recent activities of Blood Source-Sacramento from Paul C. Holland, MD, CEO/Medical Director. He noted the name was changed from Sacramento Medical Founda-tion Blood Centers to cover its 16 blood facilities throughout the Sacramento Valley.
Approved the 2003 SSVMS Work Plan for the following areas: Membership Retention and Recruitment — continue membership retention and recruitment practices that assure growth in new members and minimum loss of existing members; Member Communications — continue Sierra Sacramento Valley Medicine, the pictorial Membership Directory and On Friday as the main methods of communication with members, and maintain and improve the Society's web site; Public and Community Relations — maintain a positive and supportive image of SSVMS with members, local, state and national elected officials and community-based organizations; Management and General — maintain SSVMS' current level of technology.
Approved 2002-2003 Goals and Objectives of the Community Service, Education and Research Fund: Goal 1 — Secure and maintain program partnerships; solidify existing partnerships into multi-year sustaining and supporting partnerships and expand sustaining and supporting partnerships and solicit sponsors. Goal 2 — Increase physician and public awareness of and interest in SPIRIT and Adopt-a-School Programs; develop and execute a public relations plan and recruit physician and healthcare professional volunteers. Goal 3 — Provide hernia repair surgeries to uninsured patients in Sacramento County; and increase partner participation in hernia repair surgeries.
Approved recommendation from adminis-trators of the employee money purchase pension plan to conform language with pension law changes of the Economic Growth and Tax Relief Reconciliation Act.
Approved 2003 SSVMS committee appointments. In accordance with Bylaws, the President-Elect selects members of the SSVMS committees for the incoming year. Members appointed have returned annual committee survey indicating committees they wish to serve on in 2003.
