The Board approved the Audit Report for Year-Ending 2002 and a recommendation from auditor, Harry Cahill, to secure appraisal of the current market value of all items in the museum for a permanent record of accounting. It was noted that this appraisal is nearing completion by the Society's Historical Committee. The Board also referred a second recommendation from Mr. Cahill concerning revision of the Society's policy on check writing to the Executive Committee for review and recommendation to the Board in September.
Approved supporting a national solution to the geographic disparity of the Geographic Practice Cost Index, and that the Center for Medicare Services should develop current data documenting the extent of the disparity.
Approved a $1,000 contribution to the CMA Legal Defense Fund to support maintaining medical staff autonomy at the Community Memorial Hospital in Ventura.
Approved a request from the California Academy of Physician Assistants to provide administrative support to its "Physician-Physician Assistant; The Doctor's Perspective Dinner."
Approved a $250 donation to the SSVMS Alliance to assist in production costs for the brochure sponsored by People Reaching Out, "Why Do Young People Use Alcohol and Other Drugs?"
Approved entering into an agreement with The Good Guys Store to offer discount coupons to SSVMS members, their family and staff as a member benefit.
