The Board:
The Board received an update from Kris Wallach, Program Manager for the Community Service, Education and Research Fund (CSERF).
CSERF, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, involves physicians and the larger healthcare community in community service, education and research. Its primary programs include two community collaborative programs: The Sacramento Physicians' Initiative to Reach Out Innovate and Teach (SPIRIT) and the Adopt-A-School Program. The mission of the SPIRIT Project is to engage volunteer physicians in the delivery of medical care to the uninsured. Since the formation of the SPIRIT Project, 18,444 patients have been seen including 378 hernia surgeries performed.
The Adopt-A-School Program places volunteer physicians in school classrooms to teach healthy lifestyles to grades 4-8. The Sierra Sacramento Valley Museum of Medical History, and the William E. Dochterman Medical Student Scholarship Fund are also housed under CSERF.
In accordance with Society Bylaws, the Board elected Richard Jones, MD, 2005 Secretary and re-elected Margaret Parsons, MD, 2005 Treasurer.

The Board:
The Board: Approved the Financial Statements and Smith Barney Investment Reports for the year-ending December 31, 2004.
Approved a policy allowing eligible new employees to waive health insurance benefits, upon proof they are or will be covered under their spouse's or another health insurance plan.
Approved a policy clarifying the Society's involvement in political activities, support of candidates for public office and political campaigns. Approved a recommendation of the Public and Environmental Health Committee to support a policy and legislation that includes guidance and removes barriers faced by sexually active adolescents seeking confidential health care.
Approved the re-nomination of Drs. Barbara Arnold and Paul Phinney to another term on the CALPAC Board of Directors.
