The Board:
Approved the Second Quarter Financial Statements ending June 30, 2005, and the Smith Barney Investment Reports. It was noted that the budgeted income for 2005 is slightly higher due to an increase in membership and expenses are near the budgeted amount for this time of the year. The Community Service, Education and Research Fund's SPIRIT partners have agreed to increase their annual contributions effective January 1, 2006, from $10,000 to $15,000.
Approved providing grants from the William E. Dochterman Medical Student Scholarship Fund to the following individuals for 2005: Tiffany C. Fong; Irina Krivoshto; Sujan K. Sandhu; Chor Vang.
Approved contributing $1,000 to the Hurricane Katrina Relief Effort through the Sacramento Chapter of the Red Cross and to consider an additional donation when more is learned about opportunities to assist the medical communities in the Gulf Coast.
Approved the establishment of online banking for all SSVMS accounts with the Bank of Sacramento.
Approved a $250 contribution to the UC Davis American Medical Student Association's annual HeartBeat Run with proceeds benefiting student-run medical clinics.

The Board:
Approved the 2006 budget for the SSVMS General Fund, Building Fund, and Community Service, Education and Research Fund (CSERF). It was noted that in the last 12 months membership has increased 20 percent.
Approved a recommendation to cease collecting social security numbers from applicants for membership and to purge all social security numbers from the SSVMS data bases.
Approved a recommendation from the Child and Adolescent Health Services Committee to add SSVMS to the list of organizations identified on the No on Proposition 73 web site. It was noted the California Medical Association is also opposed to Proposition 73 and is listed on the web site.
Reviewed the report from the Nominating Committee regarding nominations to vacancies on the 2006 Board of Directors and Delegation to the California Medical Association. It was noted that any active member may submit additional nominations. In an uncontested race, the sole candidate nominated for office shall be considered duly elected without the necessity of a vote to the extent consistent with California law. Nominations close October 24, 2005.
