This selection of Chinese medicine artifacts, loaned by Franklin Yee, MD, is the first in a series of covers displaying historic items housed at the Medical Society. Chinese medicine is the oldest practice of medicine, yet some of its elements ~ acupuncture, for example ~ are still competitive with "high tech" medicine. Many plants and herbs used in Chinese medicine for centuries are being investigated by pharmaceutical companies for their active ingredients.
