This is the first in a series of six covers by Sacramento photographer Liz Welsh Abad. She took this photo,
Family Tree, in 1993 at the Disneyland Hotel, where her husband, Dr. Jose Abad, then the society president, was attending a CMA meeting. It was published in the October/November 1999 issue of
Camera Art and prints were sold at both the Crocker and KVIE Art Auctions. Ms. Abad uses a camera to work out her thoughts. "My mother had just died and I was contemplating my place in the family. The photograph was taken through three drinking glasses, which represent three generations of my family. Each glass captures the background, but through a different filter." |
