Before going on a trip to Peru, James Affleck, MD, happened upon a photo magazine article on how to take a successful picture of scenes with markedly different contrast areas — like Machu Pichu, almost invariably covered by low, bright clouds over a dark landscape. The solution: take identical photos, one exposed for the clouds and the other for the ground, then put them together in a computer. But when he and his wife arrived at Machu Pichu at dawn, there was only a wisp of cloud in the sky. This single exposure was the result. |
