Xing Ren (Semen Pruni Armeniacae)

Common Name: Almond Kernal. Functions: Relieves cough and wheezing, and moistens and moves the stool. Cautions and Contraindications: Overdose of this herb can cause dizziness, nausa, vomiting, and headache, which can progress to coma. Cooking and removal of outer coat decreases toxicity. The bark of an apricot tree is used as an antidote.
