This is "Point of View" the fifth in a series of covers by Sacramento photographer Liz Welsh Abad. It was taken in November 1991 in Monterey, where her husband, Jose, was attending a medical meeting.
She had been preparing a unit on perception for a university class on intercultural communication. In the hotel room, she became intrigued with how differently her three sets of glasses refracted the square lines of the curtain. It was a reminder of our varying cultural differences, and "how we have to reframe our thinking, how we have to take another point of view." © 2001 Liz Welsh Abad |
