About the Cover
|
This is the first in a series of covers by Victoria Ruderman, showing an arrangement of white stargazer flowers and using a process known as SX-70 Polaroid manipulation. The SX-70 is a Polaroid camera that uses Time Zero film. This film emulsion can be manipulated for up to 24 hours by various low tech tools — among them knitting needles and wooden ceramic burnishers — to produce various effects and a new, changed image. Many of Mrs. Ruderman's efforts resemble paintings, one of her former pursuits. Photography, of a different style, is also an avocation for her husband, anesthesiologist David Ruderman. |
