The California Medical Association's (CMA) House of Delegates (HOD) consists of nearly 500 delegates elected by members of component medical societies, specialty societies, and CMA sections and forums, representing virtually every mode of practice and region of the state. The SSVMS Delegation is comprised of over 50 physician leaders and is part of the CMA’s 11th District of the HOD. The HOD convenes annually to debate on issues affecting the practice of medicine and access to care. Actionable reports on those topics are presented and debated, and educational speakers are often invited to provide additional insight.
In addition to the annual meeting, Delegates also vote on and submit policies to the CMA on a Year-Round basis. SSVMS members are encouraged to weigh-in on policy proposals that are posted online.
