As the voice of doctors in the Sierra Sacramento region, SSVMS advocates on behalf of physicians and patients. From giving testimony at meetings of the Board of Supervisors, to spearheading coalitions of local healthcare organizations, to lobbying members of Congress and the State Legislature, SSVMS ensures that physicians have a seat at the table when it comes to public policy impacting the profession of medicine.
As someone who serves on the front lines of health care delivery, elected officials and policymakers need to hear your voice to make informed policy, legislation and regulations.
SSVMS and CMA engage candidates and legislators who support physicians' views on issues affecting healthcare delivery. Through CMA’s Political Action Committee (CALPAC), SSVMS and CMA work to support physician-friendly candidates for election at the local, state, and federal level. Learn More.
SSVMS and CMA work to uphold physicians' and patients' rights, preserve legislative reforms and advocate for appropriate interpretation of laws. We monitor regulatory agencies to ensure that they are fulfilling their intended purpose, whether it be to distribute health care benefits or properly regulate the health care industry and challenge any unfair policies or actions against physicians. SSVMS participates in the Health Equity Advisory Committee to provide resources to medical groups and develop best practices on addressing racism and bias in medicine.
