PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Eyes on Everything

Paul Reynolds2022.jpg

Simply put: being a physician in 2022 is exhausting. This was true before COVID-19; it was especially true during the more intense weeks of the pandemic surges and is obviously true going forward.

How many challenges are we all facing as a state and nation?

The pandemic isn’t over as case-rates are rising again.

There is a federal fight brewing over women’s healthcare rights as the Supreme Court is primed to overturn Roe v. Wade

Recent shootings in Texas, Orange County, Buffalo, and others demonstrate guns pose a serious public health risk. Inevitably, mental health will garner a lot of attention as well.

Also, there are recent concerns over new viruses, such as monkeypox.

This is tiring. But I’m energized by your passion and commitment. I’ve been so encouraged by your responses as these health policies and more take the stage.  Physicians are resilient and ready to protect and improve access to care.

To be part of this profession is inspiring and I anticipate major advancements in healthcare because of physicians LIKE YOU.

Paul D. Reynolds, MD
