SSV Medical Society News - 2021 - Volume 10 - Issue 11

Medical Society News

November 2021

Greetings!
Is this the most wonderful time of the year? We just celebrated Halloween and are gearing up for Thanksgiving (and Giving Tuesday - don't forget about SSVMS that day). Kids are chowing down on candy and, in a few weeks, we're going to be chowing down on turkey and potatoes and stuffing. We'll be surrounded by family and traditions that so many missed out on last year.

And we can do it this year thanks to the vaccines.

The vaccine hasn't ended the pandemic but it is the most critical step so far in defeating this virus. And SSVMS has put together resources to help highlight the importance of the vaccine. We're asking you to share those resources on your own platforms because the more people who get vaccinated, the more likely it is that this pandemic will become a thing of the past.

SSVMS has created public service announcements in English and Spanish based on our community letter (also available in English and Spanish). SSVMS is also producing a series of podcasts sharing the experiences of physicians from the front lines. The first of those podcasts is available here.

I am asking you to share these posts on your personal platforms to ensure the message gets spread far and wide.

Podcast Posts - Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram

Thank you for continuing to support our community through these difficult circumstances. Our field's resilience is what I'm thankful for this Thanksgiving.

Carol Burch, MD - SSVMS President

CalGrantVax Application Deadline Extended

Funds are still first-come, first-served.

I'm a member because...

Share with us why you're an SSVMS member! Maybe it's because of SPIRIT, Joy of Medicine, the Museum of Medical History, the camaraderie of your fellow physicians, the practice assistance, or even just using Sammy the Skeleton for demonstrations.

Whatever your reason is, please share it with Brandon J. Craig at bcraig@ssvms.org.

Happy Anniversary!

As 2021 is drawing to a close, let's take a moment to recognize some of our long-term members. These individuals have been with SSVMS for twenty, thirty, forty, fifty, sixty, and even seventy years. If you recognize some of your colleagues here, make sure to congratulate them!
