CMS Extends Deadline for Meaningful Use Exceptions.  CMS has re-opened the window to apply to avoid 2015 payment adjustments.  The original deadline to apply for a hardship exception was July 1, 2014.  The new deadline is 11:59 PM EST November 30, 2014.  Medicare providers who are non-compliant in attaining meaningful use and would like to request an exemption from planned Medicare payment adjustments in 2015, must complete and submit an application formClick here for more information.

CMA Publishes Summary of New Health Care Laws for 2015.  The California Legislature had an active year, passing many new laws affecting scope of practice for allied health professionals, prescription drug abuse, public health issues and health care coverage.  CMA has published a summary of the most significant new health laws.  For more details, see "Significant New California Laws of Interest to Physicians For 2015."

DECEMBER 4:  Organized Medical Staff Section 2014 Annual Assembly and Education Conference, San Diego Marriott Marquis & Marina, 333 W.
