CALPAC Endorses SSVMS Members Drs. Richard Pan and Ami Bera.  CALPAC has endorsed SSVMS member Richard Pan, MD for State Senate District 6 and SSVMS member Ami Bera, MD for United States Representative District 7.  CALPAC encourages all physicians to vote to ensure physicians and patients continue to be represented in the state and federal governments.

CMA Releases Statewide Voter’s Guide.  The California Medical Association (CMA) has published a comprehensive voter's guide that includes CMA's recommended position on statewide ballot propositions 45 and 46, as well as a list of CMA-endorsed candidates for statewide office, state legislative districts and congressional districts.  Click here to download the voter’s guide.

NOVEMBER 5:  How to Slow Down Brain Aging Without Really Trying, SSVMS Medical History Museum Lecture Series, 5380 Elvas Avenue, 7:00pm.  SSVMS and SSVMS Medical History Museum invite you to attend Dr. Robert Halliwell’s lecture on How to Slow Brain Aging Without Really Trying.  Humans are now living longer than ever before, which means they are facing the challenge of living a longer phase of life in "older" age -- a period when time and tide begin to take their toll on bodies and brains.  This lecture will consider some of the normal changes that occur in the brain as we age, and the impact that Alzheimer's disease and stroke can have on memory and intellectual abilities.  We will also review some of the medicines, supplements and lifestyles that might slow down brain aging.  Please call (916) 452-2671 to RSVP.

Harbor Drive, San Diego, CA.  (Conference), 8:30am – 4:00pm.  The California Medical Association's Organized Medical Staff Section will hold its Annual Assembly and Education Conference immediately preceding the 2014 CMA House of Delegates.  All physicians concerned about the role of strong self-governing medical staffs in improving patient care and safety should plan to attend.  Registration is FREE for OMSS Representatives and Chiefs of Staff of OMSS Member Medical Staffs.
