SSV Medical Society News - 2018 - Volume 7 - Issue 05 - May

Dear Colleagues: As you may be aware, Assemblymember Ash Kalra (D-San Jose) announced a radical physician rate setting proposal (AB 3087) that would increase patient out-of-pocket costs, create state-sanctioned rationing of health care for all Californians and force physicians out of state or into early retirement. AB 3087 does not reduce health care costs, but rather minimize patients' access to care and services and increase patient costs.

AB 3087 passed the Assembly Health Committee on April 24, 2018, and is now heading toward the Assembly Appropriations Committee. It is our duty as physicians to take action and email our state legislators immediately to ask them to stop this dangerous bill. You can do that easily by clicking here. For more information on AB 3087 click here.

Thank you for advocating for our profession and our patients.

Rajiv Misquitta, MD

Service Spotlight

Dr. Manshaii recently joined SSVMS in August 2017, after she opened her solo practice as a general surgeon in Sacramento. Shortly after, she learned about the SPIRIT Program and was eager to become involved. As a SPIRIT volunteer, Dr. Manshaii exclaims that her experience has been extremely satisfying to give back to the community. She enjoys helping people in need without any expectation in return. She hopes to continue providing volunteer work with SPIRIT in the years to come. The SPIRIT Program is very fortunate to have Dr. Manshaii onboard. Read more here.
