PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

SSVMS Goes to Washington

SSVMS leaders recently met with White House officials during a crucial trip to Washington, D.C., to talk about improving healthcare. Alongside local healthcare leaders, we discussed major concerns like access to care, the healthcare worker shortage, insufficient Medicare reimbursements, the lack of GME spots, increased violence against healthcare workers, supply chain issues for medical equipment and medications, and the need for better mental health support for healthcare workers. We also discussed the fallout from the Change Healthcare cyberattack and how inflation is making healthcare costs go up.

We covered a lot of ground in our discussions.

Staff shared that President Biden is focused on making it easier to get medical care, improving Medicare, and increasing insurance plan transparency. They also mentioned that the National Economic Council is working on fixing supply chain issues and making healthcare markets more competitive.

These talks show a strong effort to make healthcare better for everyone, aiming for a fairer and stronger system. If we keep working together and pushing for change at every level, we can improve patient outcomes, patient experiences, and physician burnout.

Thank you!
