PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE

Season of Joy

Dr. Bianca Roberts

Thank you to those who attended the 7th Annual Joy of Medicine Summit! It was a great morning to broaden our horizons on recapturing the joy of practicing medicine for ourselves and our colleagues.

Several speakers shared their experiences and research – view their presentations by clicking on their names.

Andrew Smith, PhD highlighted techniques of identifying agitation early to prevent it from growing, such as reflective listening.

Elizabeth Morrison, PhD reflected on how quickly the narrative changed during the pandemic and how we can use a sense of awe to put things into perspective.

Finally, John Chuck, MD reminded us that, as demands of physicians and burnout increase, we have to advocate for ourselves because no one else will.

Remember to take advantage of your six free counseling sessions through the Joy of Medicine and to support us on Giving Tuesday so programs like this can continue!

Thank you and Happy Thanksgiving!

J. Bianca Roberts, MD
